G Diapers
So i thought i would give the G diapers a go...since they are said to be flushable and would help ease my conscience in regards to the amount of diapers we go through.

So I ordered the starter kit online and got under way. I will say, they don't leak out of the material area, that's for sure. But the first couple of trys my little banana had well runny, messy stools and so i had to really get my hands dirty peeling apart the liner of the diaper to get it into the toilet to flush. And then it, the poop, ended up all over the toilet seat and on the plastic liner in the diaper and on the cloth part. SO if you anticipate that happening, as much as you can ever anticipate that (??), don't use them. But for pee and solid poops it works great. My hands still get a little pee on them while taking out the middle. But i just wash my hands after. I don't want to inflict them on my daycare because they have enough to do besides get my babies turd all over their hands, but for weekends and overnights i will continue to use them.

My husband is convinced they will clog our pipes up, we have a low flush toilet and city sewer, but they haven't.

They are a little bulky under bottoms that are already snug though.

I have run out of the trial kit liners but will order more online or try to find them - i guess they sell them in Wild Oats - just none directly near me. Although there is a whole foods so maybe they will carry them soon!

Wipe Alternatives
I was looking through some baby catalog the other day and saw a spray to use on the babies bottom along with tissues rather than wipes and i thought I'd try it out. Well actually i thought I'd buy them for my friends husband who is said to use like 4 wipes in a changing. Okay men don't even wash their hands after using the bathroom but they will NOT chance getting baby turd on them for anything! I know this because I sit across from the men's room at work, and i know who washes their hands and who doesn't. Trust me, very few do.

So anyway, then i saw the cost of the spray and said "what can i do similar to this for cheaper"? So it took a squirt bottle and mixed in water, babywash (some organic, hypoallergenic stuff my mother bought me) and baby oil and squirted it on her bottom, then patted dry with a cloth diaper. Good to go! Our pediatrician's nurse told me to use just baby oil and pat dry when banana had diaper rash, but for every day the waterwash works well. For pees it works really well and i can fold the diaper over and use the other side another time but for poops you may end-up using one cloth diaper each time or rinse it out each time. The water in the squirt bottle gets kind of cold sometimes though, as it is winter here, but she doesn't seem to mind too much. Tissues are an option as well and you can flush them.

Such simple things i never thought of before. You just automatically use wipes but there are alternatives. Its not easy being green and cheap!
